Vessel of The Universe and Lost Pieces

‘Vessel of The Universe and Lost Pieces’ is an immersive narrative VR experience crafted in Unity. Embark on a captivating space travel adventure as you navigate a spaceship through vast galaxies, charting a course while evading collisions with stars and enemy attacks.

Tens of thousands years from now, human beings have exhausted all the resources and energies on Earth, and are forced to restart the space exploration project that already abandoned for thousands of years. Human beings by that time possess the ability to capture energy from Stellars. The human artifacts are spreading out of the solar system and Milky way.

A small box adorned with a collection of metaphorical shapes, woven together to narrate the cosmic story from the birth of the universe to the future of human civilization. At its core, the box symbolizes the singularity point of the Big Bang, from which a wondrous explosion unfolds. The resulting bowl-shaped vessel represents the cosmic genesis, where galaxies and planets form from the precipitated stardust generated during the nuclear fusion process. The graceful spirals within symbolize galaxies, while the delicate spheres signify planets. Each planet carries the angular momentum inherited from the explosion, setting everything into motion, culminating in the captivating natural spiral shape that permeates the universe.

At the front stage, a pyramid and obelisk standing there to indicate the existence of human being in this world, humans naturally have the intention to build gigantic structures to claim its existence and memorizing themselves like Babel and pyramids. At the left side the cross tells the appearances of belief in our subconsciousness, human being need explanations of the universe and created a psychological connection of religtion to communicate to the creator of universe. The bowl-shaped universed exploded into an eye shape in front when human being starts to realize the relationship with universe, as indicated the eye is also a reflection of ourself when we staring into the universe.

Elements in the design

Modulor from Le Corbusier’s theory, the composition of comparing human scale to all universal things in the universe.

Ancient gigantic architecture, like Babel tower, pyramid, etc represents the symbol of human civilization.

Science Fictions, from Evangelion, Blade Runner, etc.

The cross represents human belief, the speculation of our existence since we exist.

The path to death is inevitable, the famous script from Blade Runner said the following words:

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate.
All those…moments will be lost…in time.
Like…tears…in rain. Time…to die.

Dyson Sphere

A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures a large percentage of its solar power output. The concept is a thought experiment that attempts to explain how a spacefaring civilization would meet its energy requirements once those requirements exceed what can be generated from the home planet’s resources alone. Because only a tiny fraction of a star’s energy emissions reaches the surface of any orbiting planet, building structures encircling a star would enable a civilization to harvest far more energy.

The concept of the Dyson sphere was the result of a thought experiment by physicist and mathematician Freeman Dyson, when he theorized that all technological civilizations constantly increased their demand for energy. He reasoned that if human civilization expanded energy demands long enough, there would come a time when it demanded the total energy output of the Sun. He proposed a system of orbiting structures (which he referred to initially as a shell) designed to intercept and collect all energy produced by the Sun.

I imagined the structure of Dyson Sphere in universal age appears to be the reflection of pyramid, which indicates the earliest idea of human being in constructing gigantic structures to claim the existence of ourselves in this planet. After we abandoned our home on Earth, we started constructing new man-made architecture around planets across universe, and the floating and rotating shape of quadrilateral obelisk stands for the most advanced technology at that era.
